Notifik is a real time email notifier for Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail. You can connect your mail account and start receiving mail alerts on your desktop.

There are added features like mute which can show alerts for mails you care. You can choose your time interval for synchronizing mails. Another feature is "Flush" which can help you in keeping focus on relevant mails only.
